So this weekend I had to chuckle as my 6 year old daughter woke me up early and got out a reward chart she had made with my name on it and ran to me exitedly and said mommy, I’ve made a reward chart for you. If you are good and give me 2 xxx a day you can get a blue star. She explained the different areas that I would be graded so well my jaw dropped! Then if you are really good I will give you plenty of hugs, cuddles and kisses with the top reward being me taking you out for dinner at Nandos if you get the 33 stars. Hmmmm. I had to laugh at how she had beaten me at implementing the system fully as I last did this with her over a year ago and had not followed through and now she was deciding to manage me!

As i was reflecting further on this incident which we had plenty of fun with during the weekend, I began to think about how we as children, subconciously and indirectly do this to our Heavenly father/ GOD/ highest being and give him rating depending on what he does and doesnt not do for us. I’ve been listening to my daughter and its interesting how she has been scoring me on whether I do what I say I am going to do, the speed in which I deliver my promises, and how she feels I am relating to her. To my surprise I even got a star for reprimanding her at some point because she recognised that it was in her best interest that I was doing so!

Lets face it, life can be challenging and many have had their hearts turn away from God the Father because of these very issues. Promises that seem unmet, delay in recieving what we thought we would have or get by a certain time and others simply feeling that God had not been there for them when they needed them most so they were no longer interested or just did not believe because of all the trouble that is happening in the world. These things stripping away the one thing that you need to do to be able to make it in this life, TRUST in God. We develop an earwax in our hearing and because of our negative experiences can no longer hear when God is speaking to us about the next steps of moves we need to make because we are too wounded, hurt, upset and no longer believe in him or trust him.

If you are a parent, I want to encourage you to try this out with your children! You will learn so much about what makes them tick and what matters to them. Then step it up a notch higher and review your relationship with your Maker, Your Creator, The Heavenly Father and be honest about how you really feel about him and how he has fared with the experiences you have had in life. He wants to hear you out and cares about you. He wants every barrier that has been blocking your communication to be removed to you can build that intimate relationship with each other that is built on Trust and guidance.

Jeremiah 33 vs 3- “Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and might things which you do not know”

Malachi 4 vs 5 and 6
“Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fthers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
