Don’t sweat the small stuff- you are being trained for great victories!

Don’t sweat the small stuff- you are being trained for great victories!

The other day I listened to a really powerful sermon by Pastor John Jenkins titled Running with the Horses and incidentally, I happened to have watched a couple of Greek Mythology movies, Wonderwoman and Thor which depict so clearly the strategy of old-time war where the foot soldiers would be sent out first then the horses would come up next. Only the best soldiers would make it to fight with the horses and it made me think about how sometimes we run away or collapse from every seemingly tough time that life throws us and do not face them head on, seeking counsel, prayer and help from others to be able to work your way through because you see yourself getting to the other side victorious.

The small challenges you are facing now are preparing you to be able to stand when the real McCoys of life come along where it is a matter of life and death. I was thinking of David’s ability to face Goliath because he knew His God who had got him through a previous danger with lions and knew that the same God would be able to come through for him with this Giant. I do not know what you are being challenged with today but see it as all working together for your good and preparing you to obtain greater victories where you are headed!

When Jeremiah found himself having a moan to God about life not being fair and how those who were evil around him seemed to be making headway compared to those who were righteous, the first part of God’s response was this;
“If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses?
And if in the land of peace,
In which you trusted, they wearied you,
Then how will you do in the [b]floodplain of the Jordan?”

Are you looking around and thinking it’s not fair, everyone else is getting somewhere except for me. When is it my turn? Count it all joy! There are great victories to be had ahead of you that will set free more people than just yourself that will come after greater battles than you are facing now. It will all be worth it, do not quit or give up on your dream. It is key to put on the whole armour of God noted in Ephesians 6 and remain in Jesus Christ who is our hope of Glory and the Ultimate Victorious one!
